Philip Bogdonoff

Philip Bogdonoff is a nationally-recognized continuing legal education speaker and former assistant prosecutor. Throughout his career, he worked closely with police forces in making charging decisions following long-term investigations. Furthermore, he argued several cases before Ohio Ninth District Court of Appeals as well as twenty-five before Ohio Supreme Court, including six death penalty cases.

As opposed to its TV show counterpart, Where the Crawdads Sing failed to capture the spirit of its source material in its movie adaptation; instead it focused on love triangles and cliche courtroom drama tropes instead.

Sometimes movies can surprise us in unexpected ways: with sunny outlooks and happy endings; or else they take us on unexpected dark rides that contain unnerving themes and undercurrents. Where the Crawdads Sing falls under this latter category despite Daisy Edgar-Jones’ stunning performance as Owens draws upon her knowledge of ethology to incorporate animal behavior into the plot, further adding layers to its appeal.
